For the 2023 season, the Pender Island Junior Sailing Association intends to offer:

2023 CANSail Level 1 & 2 courses for 4 weeks of of:

July 10^th to July 14^th – July 24^thto July 28^th – July 31^st to August 4^th and August 14^thto August18^th.

2023 CANSail Level 3 & 4 courses for advanced students will be offered the weeks of:

July 31^st to August 4^th and August 14^thto August18^th.

Students must be 9 years old at the start of CANSail Level 1 & 2 courses, which are for beginners. CANSail Level 3 & 4 students must be 12 years old at the start of the course, and have largely completed Level 2 requirements.

All students should have basic swimming ability, assisted by a PFD; Level 1 & 2 students will be required to participate in a capsizing exercise. Level 3 & 4 students appear to enjoy capsizing often!

Each course will be Monday to Friday, 9 am to 3.30 pm at the beach at Browning Harbour. Costs will be $225 for all CANSail courses. Level 1 & 2 courses use Pirate class boats with usually 3 students per boat or 2 if they are adults or a big teenager. Level 3 & 4 courses use single-handed Laser 1s and Bytes and a couple of Laser 2s with two crew members.

Registration starts on May 1^st for returning students and others in the same household. New students outside this group will register on May 15^th.

All registrants must use the Checklick automated registration system. Returning students will likely see their base information when logging into Checklick, while 1st time students will be loading this information into the Checklick system. The system will immediately assign students into their preferred course (assuming availability) and offer a waitlist option if so desired. Payment will be effected by credit card with waitlist individuals only financially charged once they have been assigned a spot.
